What is Eternal Life?
‘For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.’ (John 3:16)
This is the most famous verse in the Bible. But what exactly is eternal life? Is it going to heaven?
Well, yes… but it’s also more than that.
When Jesus is praying to His Father, He says:
‘Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.’ (John 17:3)
Eternal life is about knowing God. It’s about relationship.
Eternal life means that we are no longer separated from God, but can know and be known by Him. This doesn’t start when you die and go to heaven, but it starts when you are born again.
Saying yes to Jesus is not just about securing a place in heaven, but it’s about being made new here and now, and starting this adventure of knowing and being known by God.
Yes, there will be so much more when we get to heaven, but the journey starts now! The kingdom of God is in our midst! There are depths to be explored and heights to be scaled in the kingdom.
So I bless you to go on this journey of knowing God and going deeper with Him.
