Generational Mindset

Somebody once said to me, if your dreams can all be accomplished in your lifetime by you, your dreams are too small.

This is a biblical thought. All throughout the Bible, God doesn’t just move in the lives of individuals, but He moves through generations.

So how can a move of God be sustainable through generations?

Thinking generationally doesn’t mean passing on a baton as a one time event when we retire. In the Kingdom, I believe it’s more of a continual thing where no matter what age or stage we are at, we must always be thinking about generosity in terms of the people, resources and knowledge that God has entrusted to us.

You might be able to do a good thing in your lifetime. You might even be able to do a great thing in your lifetime. But you can only really do a Kingdom thing if you start to think beyond your own lifetime.

If we get too precious about our roles or things we have created, what we have built and developed will only become stagnant and die along with us. However, if we live generously and look beyond ourselves, this is how things can grow, change and develop in line with what God is doing.
