God Spoke Through My Dream

I had a dream the other day, and God spoke to me through it.

In the dream, there was a church. Somebody new came along to the church and stood up at the end of the meeting announcing that they celebrate the kingdom of darkness.

Later on in the dream, the church leader then stood up and announced that the church would start to celebrate Halloween. The church leader explicitly said that they don’t believe Halloween is right, but they were making changes in order to make the new person feel welcome and at home.

The church leader’s intentions, in a sense, appeared good. They spoke kindly and they were doing what they could to help this person feel welcome in the church.

However, ultimately they were compromising what was good and right in order to be seeker sensitive.

Now, this is quite an extreme example, but it made me think about other ways in which we as Christians might compromise the gospel in order to make things seem more welcoming or more palatable.

We just have to look at the life of Jesus to see that He never did this. Even when people turned away because of His words, He never changed the message.

Jesus knew that He couldn’t change the world by being like the world.

So, we should seek to be welcoming, but let’s be careful that we don’t cross the line into compromise.
