Keep God in the Conversation

As a Christian, what should I watch? Are there things that are simply off limits?

Well, I don’t have a black and white list.

However, I have found something that helps me to discern what is going to be good and enjoyable, and what is actually harmful for me and my relationship with God.

The way I do that, is to simply keep God in the conversation at all times.

When you choose what to watch and while you are watching something, be aware of God’s presence with you. Is He happy to sit and watch it with you?

If you find yourself ignoring God or trying to go behind His back in order to watch something, it’s probably something you shouldn’t watch.

If you ever find yourself making excuses that something is okay to watch, it might not be.

God has given us free will, and ultimately, you can watch whatever you want. However, not everything is going to be healthy for your heart. We shouldn’t exclude God from any area of our lives, no matter how insignificant we think it might be.

What you choose to watch and how much you watch might also change in different seasons.

So, next time you are unsure what to watch, rather than feeling suffocated by legalism and black and white rules, simply keep God in the conversation. Is He happy to watch with you? If not, why not? What is He happy to watch with you?
